Remember, correlation does not imply causation. Also, everyone I know has never become self-conscious about their weight because of a bunch of toys. Maybe because everyone I know is smart enough to know that those toys have exaggerated features to make them look more like a toy. I mean come on, you realize that most toys are the equivalent of a caricature, right? You wouldn't complain that a chibi has unrealistic proportions! Or that a teddy bear has unrealistic proportions!

Maybe also because thinking every day about your body's imperfection and seeing perfect models everywhere and being constantly told that you're shit if you don't look like them causes stress and many people are stress eaters - that's my theory. But I don't think it's toy's fault.
It's more like a doing of social media which promotes anorexic celebrities and mocks anyone famous for 100g extra, while children rarely idealize their toys. My favorite toys were plastic dinosaurs but I didn't start wanting to become a dinosaur just because of that.
